This 185-step public stairway in San Francisco’s Sunnyside neighborhood had long been overlooked. An area connecting two blocks across Monterey Boulevard, it was filled with untapped potential.
Working with the Sunnyside Neighborhood Association and local residents, we helped help transform this neglected right-of-way into a vibrant, community-loved public space that reflects the neighborhood’s energy and needs.
