Goal

BLOCS was hired as the landscape architect for a 100-unit assisted living and memory care facility in Orange County, California. Our role focused on creating four outdoor courtyards that residents, staff, and families could use daily—for connection, wellness, and joy.

Process

Working closely with the operator and design team, we shaped four distinct courtyards, each with its own vibe and purpose. We prioritized comfort, accessibility, and simplicity—designing spaces that are intuitive to use, easy to navigate, and genuinely enjoyable.

Results

The courtyards have become one of the most-used and appreciated features of the community. By designing for comfort, connection, and dignity, we helped shape outdoor spaces that improve quality of life for residents and support wellness-centered care.
