Goal

Tie a series of infill parcels together using a trail system and a 2.1-acre public park to make a complete community that provides open space and affordable housing for an underserved community in Hayward. Process: We were early involved with the City as they were piecing together these parcels. We were able to work early on to establish the concept of a trail connecting the entire project, a concept that we feel made the project truly function as one project rather than a series of parcels.

We were actively engaged with the City from the early stages as they coordinated the assembly of these parcels. Through our collaboration, we were able to introduce the concept of a unified trail system that connects the entire project. This vision helped transform the development from a collection of individual parcels into a cohesive, integrated community.”

Results

Completed the construction of 400+ homes and a mixed-use podium building and created a vibrant community and major community amenity and gathering place. The park is heavily used and a favorite amenity for people in the area.
